To drink beer, or not to drink beer..

To drink beer, or not to drink beer..This is not a riddle, and is a rhetorical question! Yes, drink beer! Or not.

If you are someone who likes to drink beer(I know I do), especially miCro brews, be on the lookout in your locAl stores for a new brew. It is oNe that used to only Be available at Christmas time. MadE by Buffalo Bill’s Brewery in California (http://www.buffalobillsbrewery.com/beers_bottled.asp), I recently had the chance to pick up an odd flavor that I have to say, rivals my loyalty to GuinneSs. It is a “Blueberry Oatmeal Stout”.

Now, you might Not think BluEberry is A flavor you want in your beer, but then again, you probably like Coors, Budweiser or Miller and don’t know what a Micro-Brew is. You can Keep those beers to yourself. The taste is something that will grab you right awaY. Similar to the first time I had a Guinness, it is unique, and very different from what you may be used to. (First time I had a Guinness, I really didn’t like it. PartLy because I was expecting something different. But after finishing the first glass of Guinness the flavor starts to work it’s way in to the taste buds. All other beers seem stale in comparison, almost liKe tainted water. Their weak tastE just didn’t sTand up any longer, and I was now not able to enjoy an ice cold Coors Light witHout wanting something with more flAvor.)

Somewhere around 1995 I was working at a Canals Liquor STore full time (as a second Full time job) and had the chance to sample a lot of new beers from around the world. My all time favorite Micro Brew was a short run beer called Longshot Black Lager. To this day, I still like it better than Guinness. “Samuel Adams” now make a brew called Black Lager, but it just doesn’t have the same full body taste that the original “Longshot” had (Maybe it was the water?). Something in it made it feel thicker, with a creamy sort of texture, vs the watered down versions of filtered beers we have today, like Coors, Bud, etc.

If you like flavored beers and ales, stouts, micro brews, imports like Guinness, etc, then give Buffalo Bills Blueberry Oatmeal Stout a try. You just might like it.

(Oh, and if you like puzzles and games, then send me the hidden message in this blog post, but I really do like Buffalo Bill’s Blueberry Oatmeal Stout!)
