Well, it seems Comcast is capping my network speed. I noticed this about a month ago, but lately I have been gaging it with some speed tests. I test my speed reguarly, and have kept track of it over the years. My download speed has cut in half, not matter what test site I use. My uplaod speed however, has increased more than double. I know they are working on a faster package for DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modems, but whatever they are doing, they have adjusted my speeds accordingly. I used to get 30Mb/s Down, 1.5Mb/s upload. I now get no more than 15Mb/s down, and a max of between 6 and 8Mb/s upload speed. That would be good if I torrented a lot, but since I don’t I torrent files, I could care less about the upload speeds. I do however watch things Hulu and YouTube, as well as download a lot of IPTV shows like Hak5, Pixel Perfect, etc, and it has really beem a drag lately. Even web sites seem to loading slower, and its NOT my pc. Even causing the dreaded “buffering” for flash videos which used to be common for things like real player back in the dial up days. I guess its time to look into Fios. Comcast is just too expensive for such little you get. I don’t even have digital cable or anything beyond basic channels, and it still costs me almost $60.00 a month. Even DSL has as fast speeds as I am gettign now for HALF the price of Comcast.
