    QIMO, linux for kids.

Pronounced like Eskimo, but spelled qimo, qimo is a linux distro with kids in mind. Its based on xuBuntu with xfce as the windows/desktop manager for less demanding pc needs. The programs on the disc are geared towards learning and children 3 and up, yet I fail to see most 3 year olds reading and understanding the math at this level. While my daughter loves her DS-Lite and can navigate through most of the games we bought her, she may be a year or so away from being able to use qimo effectively at that level of reading and math. She can handle paint pretty well though, but has yet to be able to read and write more than her name and a few simple words like cat, dog, etc. Maybe qimo will be the jump start she needs :)
